CPABC How to Series 'Apply to CPA as an International Student'

Many international students in BC are currently enrolled in an MBA, bachelor's degree or post degree diploma program with the intention of applying to CPA program upon graduation of their program. Many of these students also hold international degrees and/or professional designations from their home countries.  So as an international student, when is the best time for you to apply to the CPA program?

Join to hear an explanation on documents, permits, and helpful tips for international students.  Presenters are Sheila Chung, BA, RISIA, Student Recruitment Office from CPABC with special guest Sanam Kashfi, RCIC from Kashfi Immigration.

KPMG Victoria Open House

KPMG is looking for students with a passion to learn more about the Management Consulting field and the potential hiring opportunities within their various teams for Winter 2025 at the KPMG Victoria Office.

If you'd like to learn more about KPMG and meet their teams, register for the in-person KPMG Open House event.  Registration Deadline is March 15th.

Conversation with a CPA

Are you curious about what CPAs actually do?  If yes, join this short 45-minute conversation and listen to a real-life CPA and learn about what accountants do and where they work.  You will then have an opportunity to ask your own questions about a career in accounting.  Featured speaker: Abby Villeneuve, CPA, Manager, High Net Worth, Canada Revenue Agency (CRA).

 

March 26, 5:30-7pm

Online CPABC Accounting Night in Canada

Learn how to transfer your international education and work experience (accounting/finance) towards the CPA program and confer the CPA designation.  This session will walk you through the admission requirements, the structure of the CPA program, and how to connect with employers in the accounting sector.  Special guest speakers from BC settlement agencies, ISSofBC, MOSAIC, and S.U.C.C.E.S.S., will present on their resources for newcomers (recent PR status) in BC for financial assistance, free mentorship, and career counselling services to help you attain your goals in becoming a CPA.

 

March 27, 5:30-7:30pm 

Discover CPA

Are you interested in becoming a CPA but don't have a business-related background?  This in-person Discover CPA event will feature a panel of CPAs who did not study business prior to pursuing their CPA path.  Hear why they become CPAs and how they did it.  Receive an overview of the CPA profession and get a chance to network with panelists following the moderated panel discussion.

CPAEF Bursaries and Scholarships
Every year CPAEF offers a bursary program to BC students based on financial need with two deadlines to apply each year: May 15 and November 15. Scholarships are also available to students attending one of eleven BC post-secondary institutions that do not have named awards: applications are due May 1.
Students can visit the CPAEF for application forms.

The Aboriginal Financial Officers Association of Alberta (AFOA Alberta), the Chartered Professional Accountants Western School of Business (CPAWSB), and CPA Canada announce an innovative accounting education pilot for Indigenous learners.
